Day 226

Today has been a rest day for Riley, me and Brian. Yesterday was our regular clinic day and Riley had to have an IV medication that he gets once a month. We also had to go to pre-op to get everything ready for surgery tomorrow. We don't know what time surgery is yet and won't be able to find out until we call after 4pm today. I hope it is early since Riley won't be able to eat or drink - and he has been eating today, just in time to be told he can't! We still aren't really sure exactly why he stopped eating, but he is slowly wanting to eat a little more and still getting tube feeds to supplement.

Tomorrow, Riley will have his central line removed and replaced by a port in his chest. We will no longer be drawing blood ourselves, we will have to go in and have it done, but that is okay because we only have 1 more day of this (at least in NC), next Monday. Other than surgery tomorrow, we will have another echocardiogram and chest Xray on Friday, spend the weekend getting everything ready to go, and hopefully be ready to hit the road after our Monday clinic appointment. I can hardly wait to get Riley back to our home and see how he reacts. He is doing better and better everyday and I hope being home will help even more.

We had a nice visit last night with our good friends and co-workers, Heidi and BJ. Riley spoke to Heidi as soon as she came in. He continued to talk about "Heidi's bingo party" the rest of the night. He was very excited to have visitors, and it was a good thing they came when they did, because Riley started saying he wanted visitors yesterday morning. He is napping now before physical therapy, which he will not be too happy about when he wakes up.

I will update after surgery tomorrow. Pray for an uneventful and successful day of procedures tomorrow!
