Insomnia, It's What's for Dinner

Since the last update, Riley has been recovering well from his procedure. Toes look great and he can stand without any apparent pain. We're waiting to try and walk until after our follow up with the doc this week. Thanks Alan for hooking us up with your Podiatrist friend!!

Riley does have an ear infection and was complaining that his “tonsils hurt” last week. Fortunately, no fever, so we’re just using antibiotic ear drops…no need to throw another antibiotic into the mix (already takes two).

Aside from that, our newest issue is Riley’s sleeping pattern, or lack there of. We’ve been working with Dr. Stephanie trying to find the right med to knock him out (that sounds bad), but they almost seem to have the opposite effect. For those of you that have seen Happy Feet, that is Riley is his bed…literally! Aside from the sporadic full night of sleep, Riley is falling asleep around 11:30 or so, then usually is up every hour or two, sometimes to eat and others to take off his pull-up.

On top of that, he seems to have a touch of O.C.D. (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) in that he will run through the same routine of, “lift me up in a bed” while he’s lying in it, “take off my pull-up and wipe off my bottom” after you lift him up and put him down, and the newest is “give me a Pooh blanket.” No exaggeration when I say we run through this trio dozens of times!

Needless to say, this is really starting to take a toll on Teresa and me. Thank goodness for caffeine and 5-Hour Energy drinks!!

Peace
